Cupping therapy has become famous in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Us champion Michael Phelps’s skin is covered with purple dots, but Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that helps with pain, inflammation, release of the fascia , blood flow and it can be used as complementary type in the deep tissue massage to get rid of knots in every part of the body.

Cupping is the only method known in massage therapy that pulls the Fascia instead of pressing it.

And that is the key to get rid of knots and make the collagen and hyaluronic acid slide one on top of the other and recreate the fascial structural balance you need to get rid of pain in your back , neck and shoulder

Massage, massage , massage! How much do we love a great warming and therapeutic massage. Doesn’t matter where we are : London ,New York , Barcelona  we always look for the best masseur in town ! But..How much should we trust a new massage therapist?Do we have some guidelines to be sure  that we are in the right hands?

I ‘ve received massage all around the world , Thailand , India , Europe and with time  I come out with some basic guidelines to understand if I’m going to enjoy a pleasurable experience or a really sucky one!

Here some basic rules to take in consideration.

#1 MASSAGE RULES : the massage place has to be clean!It doesn’t have to be necessarily fancy but hygiene is mandatory. Be aware if the massage table has been clean out and hygienized.

#2 MASSAGE RULES : The Masseur has to be clean too! And if is possible , he has to be  Fit! Why has he to be Fit ? Because it’s a reflection of a certain type of  Lifestyle based on mindfulness and attention on diet and what is actually healthy. let’s put it in this way , if the masseur is taking good care of his body he might take care of yours in the same way.

#3 MASSAGE RULE : Check the Masseur hands, are they clean? Do they have long nails? you don’t want to end up in a BDSM massage with nails mark all over your back!

#4 MASSAGE RULE : is the masseur asking you  some questions about your medical history?He should, if he is a real masseur. He is suppose to know if you have a shoulder problem , if you have spondylosis or nutated sacrum, Hyperlordosis etc. Of course sometimes the only thing we know is that the back hurts and we expect the therapist to formulate an hypothesis about the problem. But it is always better to give this kind of  information before hand.

#5 MASSAGE RULE : The masseur should always ask for what kind of intensity the massage should be and you should tell him the technique you want him to use on your body. The intensity it will be calibrated later on but it’s better to give  the masseur an idea.

Those are some basic rules to get a real good masseur here in Barcelona.
